Our story
Three generations of barbers, one family brewery
The Brennans are a well-known hairdressing family of three generations from Sydney’s Northern Beaches. In 2014 they bought 25 acres at Canoelands, backing on to Marramarra National Park, and it was here that Canoelands Brewery was born.
John Brennan has spent years researching the science of beer, including time in Slovenia at the Vizir brewery, while son-in-law Ryan Dixon helps with research and recipes and oversees many of the brews.

Our brewery
Brewed on a Brewiks system
Our Brewiks brewing system, made by Mithraeum, brews about 200 to 300 litres of finished beer per batch, with precise, computer-controlled temperatures.
- Thermal-oil heating keeps the wort even and the enzymes working
